Death Note

Willem Dafoe best known to comic book fans as the Green Goblin from the Sam Raimi Spider-man trilogy is set to voice mischievous Shinigami Ryuk in Netflix’s adaptation of Death Note. Dafoe is well known for his ability to be both sinister and fascinating which will serve him well as he voices the apple loving death god.

Death Note started off as a Manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata which revolves around a school boy Light Yagami who finds a note book that gives him the power over life and death. The book belongs to Ryuk who deliberately left it in the human world to see what the result would be, once Light realises what he has he starts killing off anyone who conflicts with his strong sense of justice. The show will debut next year, there is also an animated adaptation of the Manga, 3 Japanese Live action movies and 2 live action TV shows
