This spinoff series has been fantastic so far, let me just throw that out there. If you’ve followed my last couple of reviews then you’ll know how much I’ve been enjoying it and I hoped that issue 3 would pump up the volume a little bit. I’m happy to say that’s exactly what has happened as the standoff  First things first we finally find out the name of the mysterious scorpion mutant….Zodi. So now I can say Zodi instead of that scorpion mutant thingy. It’s still not entirely clear what her intentions are but she seems willing to team with the Turtles for now. The ganf are still trapped inside Baxter Stockman’s building with police forces forcing their way in with weapons and bad intentions. The struggle to get out safely intensifies and one of our heroes is injured in the process. Strong stuff all round.

Artist Damian Couceiro delivers another solid issue with the exception of one horrendous panel of April…..not sure what happened there but it wasn’t bonny. Other than that and the design of Zodi, I’ve been happy with his work on the series. Speaking of are, it’s time for me to gush again, it’s backup story time with Kevin Eastman and Bill Sienkiewicz on artist duty…..again, it’s like a dream for me. Regular series scribe Tom Waltz is writing the ongoing shorts and it’s simple fair with Leo on the run from various villains. This time it’s The Rat King which is a cool thing to see.

Another solid issue, probably the best so far and things are really heating up. It’s like a mix between The Raid and (REC) which is just fine by me. If this keeps up we could be looking at one hell of a series here.
