First Batman Vs Superman releases a trailer for its trailer and now Star Wars has gone and released an actual trailer…sort of. Its still on the teasing side of things but its better than nothing. Opening things up we see somewhere that looks a lot like Tatooine before panning to a scuttled Imperial Star Destroyer. This is followed by a narration by Mark Hamill AKA Luke Skywalker. He recounts how the force is strong in his family and then we are teased once more by an image of Darth Vader’s burnt helmet, a cloaked Luke (presumably) and his snazzy new hand; and finally a woman receiving a lightsaber, her face is obscured but the narration implies she’s Luke’s sister. Do you think we’ll see Jedi Leia in Episode VII? The Jedi version of the character certainly would be something many fans of the extended universe might be hoping for but will everyone else be as excited?
The trailer also offers a better look at the assumed villain of the film “Kylo Ren”with his signature crossguard lightsaber. His scenes depict him alongside the newly designed stormtroopers whose full appearance was also released today.
Finally the trailer gives up the big one: a look at Han Solo and Chewie. Yes Harrison Ford has got old but Chewie seems to have not aged a day. What do you think, should they have greyed up Chewie to make Han look a little better or should he just share some of that Wookie anti-wrinkle cream with poor old Han?
Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens will open in cinemas on the 18th December 2015 and will star a new set of characters alongside members of the original cast. Already confirmed are Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford alongside new cast members John Boyega and Daisy Ridley. So has this new look sent your anticipation levels to lightspeed or do you sense a great disturbance in the force?
