This issue of Wayward opens with a flashback on Dermot purposefully destroying his family – but why? He’s serving a “greater good”, he says, but what?
This issue of Wayward, after a flashback on Rori’s infancy, brings us back to Japan, in the aftermath of the battle between our heroes and the military.
This issue of Wayward brings us back in time, to when Dermot proposed to Sanae – they will become Rori’s parents. But Dermot seems to be hiding something.
After we conclude the flashback on Rori’s parents, that started on the previous issue of Wayward, we go back to Tokyo where the battle still rages on.
Wayward is back – and this time we find ourselves in Ireland with Rori, her father Dermot and her friend Ayane (the cat-girl).
With its emphasis on dialogue and background explanation, Rat Queens #14 may feel slow compared to the frantic pace of previous, action heavy outings, even if laying the ground work is important for story development; but as always, the characters are so amiable and rich that even a slower issue fails to make Rat Queens any less enjoyable read.
Another story arc for Wayward concludes here. The devious Nurarihyon has an idea: turning modern society against our heroes.
