Studio Trigger (Kill la Kill, Kiznaiver) have today announced that their acclaimed short film Little Witch Academia has been green-lit for a tv series, running full 30-minute episodes. The story of a young girl inspired by a performing magician to join a school for witches, Little Witch Academia became one of the most popular short films to emerge from the “Anime Mirai” young animator training program in Japan. Following the runaway success of its subsequent Kickstarter project in 2013, a sequel, The Enchanted Parade, was released in 2015. The new series will make LWA only the second film from the Mirai Project to become the basis of a tv anime, after last year’s Death Parade.
Little Witch Academia and The Enchanted Parade are currently available to stream on Netflix.
